The Founding of a Republic-A historical Movie By China
Once again I realized that movie can represent the real fact of life or history of a country. “The Founding of a Republic” depicted the rise of CCP after long bloody war against Kuomintang (KMT). The movie also shows how CCP formed a multi-party Chinese government to run the big country peacefully. I also feel the movie is little bit propaganda of CCP.
The story of the movie is sequenced as follows-
Encircling the character of Chairman Mao and his rag-tag band of revolutionaries, the film accounts the heroic but laborious birth of Communist China through the defeat of the Nationalist forces of Chiang Kai–shek in a series of bloody battles from 1945 to 1949.
Chinese communist party and Kuomintang (KMT) fought against Japanese in Sino-Japanese War but after that, both party were worried about the allocation of power, to solve this problem , in 1945 after the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War, Mao Zedong and some other powerful members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) went to Chongqing for a meeting with Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang (KMT).In the meeting with strong support of the China Democratic League, the Double Tenth Agreement is signed between the KMT and CCP, with both sides agreeing to stop the civil war and to establish a multi-party government in China.
According to the history, movie showed, in the following years Chiang Kai-shek calls for a National Assembly in Nanjing and is elected as President of the Republic of China (ROC). But at that time, the peace agreement between two parties was broken and civil war burst in the whole country. Some other political figures like Zhang Lan, Soong Ching-ling and Li Jishen, support the CCP because they oppose Chiang’s government, however they are not in the field of battle, rather they are from Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Following above mentioned chaos, in May 1948, the CCP declares the starting of “War of Liberation” against Chiang’s ROC government supported by many other small political parties and figures. The Red Army secures triumphs against the NRA in subsequent battles and eventually Chiang’s forces move back to Taiwan in December 1949. After this great triumph, on 1st October 1949, Mao Zedong states publicly the People’s Republic of China with its capital at Beijing, marking the start of a new era for peaceful multi-party China.
Although the movie is a little propaganda of CCP it’s provide a overview of how new powerful China was born in the world.
