The first Dark Sky Island-The Channel Island of Sark
I am really surprised and also very blissful to read the news about the first darks sky “The Channel Island of Sark” , that was created to aware people about lack of light pollution with the facility to view the stars of the sky at night.
The news was broadcasted from London AFP. The island is situated west of France’s Cotentin Peninsula, around 130 kilometers the southern England. The island was approved by the IDA (International Dark-Sky Association), a US based organization. This is truly good news for Star Gazers to enhance their tourism facilities.
“Sark becoming the world’s first dark sky island is a tremendous feather in our environmental cap, which can only enhance our appeal,” cited by Paul William, Chairman of the shark agricultural committee.
This is a great way to observe the Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon and streaking meteors can be picked out among bright stars from the Island from. So, I hope this will open new way of tourism along the environmental awareness.
