National Martyr’s Memorial (Jatiya Smrity Shoudha)-Symbol of Liberation War of Bangladesh

Tomorrow is the Victory day of Bangladesh. Bangladesh attained independence after 9 month bloody battle against Pakistani brutal attack. Almost 3 million of people give up their lives for achieving freedom. National Martyrs Memorial was built to commemorate the martyred fighter of Bangladeshi War of Independence in 1971.

National Martyr’s Memorial

National Martyrs’ Memorial is the historical place that conveys the message from all martyrs of Liberation War of Bangladesh.  This is the symbol of the sacrifice of people who were slaughtered in the Bangladesh during the Freedom Fight of 1971, which helped to bring the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistani rule. The monument is founded in Savar, approximately 35 kilometers north-west of the capital  of Bangladesh, Dhaka. This great monument was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain.
History of construction
Blueprints for this monument were opened up immediately after the independence of Bangladesh, 1972. Adopting the site, a nation-wide design competition was carried out in June, 1978. Right after reviewing of the Fifty seven applicants, Syed Mainul Hossain’s design and style were selected. The key framework and a lake along with other features were finished in 1982.
