MIGRATING ANIMALS IN THE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Serengeti National park was declared a World Heritage Site. Serengeti National park is estimated to be 14,763 sq. Km. The most unique, remarkable and attractive feature in Serengeti is the annual Migration of the Wild beast, zebras, giraffe, gazelles, buffalo and other many plain animals. The animals move from one grazing area to another in search of food and there are predators that follow them for prey these predators are the likes of Lion, leopard, Cheetahs, Hyenas, jackals and hunting dogs. This is a wilderness and has contributed to its uniqueness. Serengeti has been discovered to be the most popular wildlife sanctuary in the world. Game viewing has been made easy by the low vegetation. There are also rivers, lakes and swamps all over the area. This is a big area that accommodates much wildlife of all different types. The Serengeti migration consists of 1.5 million wild beast migrations and it occurs every year.

There are several attractions in Serengeti National Park. These include Grumeti River which is categorized as a body of water attraction. There is also the Naabi Hill which is a geological formation that educates the tourists and also for the researchers become an interesting topic to cover along their research when on the visit to Serengeti National park. The Olduvai Gorge is also found as a Geological formation and a Historic site the interest many who like seeing the geographical features. A national park referred to as Seronera Serengeti is also found as well as the Serengeti Hippo Pool which is categorized as nature or wildlife area.

There are two ways of getting to Serengeti National Park. You can choose to use either the air or the roads. If you go for air transport you can either come from Amsterdam to get to Kilimanjaro airport though the flight are specified to operate three days a week; Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There are also local flights operating from Arusha to Seronera Airstrip the heart of Serengeti or Kirawira Airstrip. Alternatively, you might decide to use the Roads. The best known and genuinely used road passes along ways which follow many attractions before getting to the Serengeti National park. It starts from Lake Manyara then to Serengeti itself through Hill Gate.

Accommodation in Serengeti National Park

There are various ways of accommodation in Serengeti National Park. Most of these are tented camps and lodges. Examples are Serengeti Kati Kati Camp, Serengeti Sopa Lodge, the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge, Mbalageti Serengeti, Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp, Soroi Serengeti Lodge and the Serengeti Migration camp. Basically, there are no big Hotels as the place isn’t a good place to build and many people prefer camping than using Hotels in Serengeti National Park

Migration in Serengeti National Park is a natural event and no one can give the estimate time for the migration to take place. It’s usually month by month; year by year. These animals move in search of green and fresh grass. This doesn’t mean that when there is rain no migration will take place as it is mostly seen during the rainy season. Serengeti National Park has attracted millions of millions of people every year and still more people are visiting each year currently.
