MachuPicchu a great travel destination- New7wonders
Machu Picchu or Old Mountain is one of the most mid-ancient civilizations located in Peru above the Urubamba valley. This is Pre-Columbian Incha site situated 2430 meters above the sea level. From Cuzco, it is about 80 km northwest and beside Urubamba River.
It is believed that the Inca emperor built the city as an estate around 1432-1472. This is also called the lost city of Incas because it is bearing many identities of Inca civilization.
The estate was started to build around AD 1400 BUT later it was abandoned for Inca rulers for official site.
This estate was unknown outside world before 1911 when American historian Bingham bought this attention to whole world. Since then this the great place for millions of tourists.
Machu Picchu was stated a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. Since it was not plundered by the Spanish when they occupied the Incas, it is particularly significant as a cultural site and is well-known as a sacred place.
Machu Picchu was made in the classical Inca style, with elegant dry-stone walls. Its main buildings are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. These are located in what is known by archaeologists as the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. In September 2007, Peru and Yale University signed an accord considering the homecoming of artifacts which Hiram Bingham had detached from Machu Picchu in the early twentieth century.
