You can check for yourself, but as the Ukraine nor the UK belong to the Schengen zone, that will not help you.

If you travel overland or have a stop in a Schengen country that is longer than going from one plane into the next on the same airport you will need a transit via for the Schengen zone too, for the country where you enter is the normal thing.
The Schengen Zone is a group of countries, mostly members of the European Union, who do not hold border checks between them and if you have visa for one of them you are also welcome in the others unless special rules apply.
